Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente de Madrid
March 20 and 21, 2025
The fifth edition of FICIMAD will be held on March 20 at the mk2 Cine Paz and on March 21 at the Sala Cátedra Mayor at the Ateneo de Madrid. Six Prime Ministers and almost all of the Spanish Nobel Prize winners have attended the Ateneo, including members of the Generation of ’98 such as Miguel de Unamuno and Pío Baroja, members of the Generation of ’27 such as Federico García Lorca, and international Nobel Prize winners such as Marie Curie or Albert Einstein.
FICIMAD seeks to create transformative experiences for film lovers and creators of all ages and backgrounds by promoting and supporting independent cinema, beyond market demands. Our mission is to stimulate and encourage new filmmaking talent, honoring the great masters of world cinema, and expanding audience horizons.
We are committed to treating all people with respect, dignity and fairness by removing physical, social and economic barriers to participation. FICIMAD offers screenings, discussions, professional development and opportunities to meet, listen and learn from filmmakers around the world.
In addition to discovering new talents through the screening of documentaries, dramas and short films, attendees can enjoy live music performances, tastings of Spanish cuisine, discussion panels with the most prominent creators and figures in the film industry, among other activities.
Driven by our passion for cinema, FICIMAD fosters the understanding of world cultures through the art of cinema. We believe that cinema has a unique ability to celebrate the complexity of the human condition and that it is our responsibility to steward that power to create meaningful change in our world.
